For most people the concept of doing what you love and receiving money do not go hand in hand. At most we can do what we love in our spare time or as a hobby but being paid for what you enjoy doing is considered a utopian ideal. In this day in age there are a variety of choices available out in the world, but we still function from the point of view of lack of choices and scarcity, especially when it comes to earning money. We are constantly bombarded with the idea that in order to be successful we have to work hard and make big sacrifices. The phrase “no pain, no gain” is something we have all heard time and time again. In addition, we have to hold on to what we have worked so hard to create, as there is a voice in the back of our mind saying what if this is the best we will ever have or hope to gain. Even worse, we might lose it all, which tightens our grip and makes us work to the point of overwhelm. That being said, it does not necessarily mean that we do not have to invest a lot of energy and attention to what we are doing and creating, but what if we could add joy, fun and ease to the equation? What if there is something else possible, that we just might not have considered yet? Here are some questions and tools that will create more clarity and ease in this area for you: Turning things upside down. What are some of the things you do so easily, that come so naturally to you, almost like breathing and you are also usually great at, even accomplishing them in a very short amount of time? Contrary to popular belief, those are probably the things that will make you the most money. It is because you do not have to put enormous amounts of energy, time and effort into doing them, you therefore think that if you can do them, everyone can. You attribute no value to them, so you do not give them a second thought and you are too quick to dismiss them in the scheme of making money. What if it is totally the opposite? Being You If you look at some of the people that are successful and thriving in the world, they are most likely being themselves, doing what they enjoy, enjoying what they do and following what they know is possible. When you are being you, everything you do has a sense of ease, joy, enthusiasm to it. Even if you are doing something that usually takes a lot of energy and time, that is stressful and overwhelming to others, can still be enjoyable and fun for you, and because of that you can accomplish them in such a short amount of time that seems impossible to others. Another key thing with making money in doing what you love is also doing what gives you a greater sense of yourself and contributes to your well-being and the well-being of others. Asking questions. One thing that can be really helpful is asking different questions such as: What brings me joy? What makes me happy and excited? What am I enthusiastic about? What gets my creative juices flowing and gives me more energy? Money follows joy. We can be good at a number of things, but if we don’t enjoy doing them, it will probably not be generating lots of money for us. On the other hand, something we think is just a hobby and we really enjoy doing can easily become a great source of revenue, a high paying career or a thriving business. For example, in my previous employment I was really good with numbers and math and solving difficult problems, but I did not find any joy in doing it. Needless to say, the amount of money I was earning was perfectly mirrored by the amount of joy that was created in my life by me working there, which was far from enough for me. On the other hand, I really enjoyed communicating with people and looking at ways of bringing more joy and happiness into their lives, which is now one of my businesses and yielding more money than I could previously have ever imagined possible for myself. What if you could make so much money doing things you love and enjoy, that you could afford to pay someone to do the things you don’t enjoy doing? And if we turn this concept around, the same question can be applied to you. What if discovering what is fun and easy for you to do, that can be quite difficult, stressful or even boring to others, could create a business or a career opportunity for you to offer those services and making money by doing them? There are lots of people out there that would be happy to pay you to do something that is easy and fun for you, but in turn is stressful for them and takes longer for them to accomplish, complete or deliver? And what if you choosing something totally different is the first step in creating a life you love and enjoy?Marja Zapusek is an Access Consciousness certified facilitator, Being You certified facilitator and Right Voice for You facilitator.
